A Triple IPA Version of our beloved Citra hopped pseudo sue smashed onto the scene with colossal nots of mango, orange and pineapple. Seismic Sue’s hop-forward bite will reverberate on your palate and finish with a grapefruit aroma creating a perfectly ferocious brew.

Small, irregular cream-coloured head, if rather stable for an Oud Bruin over reddish cola-coloured beer. Lactic acid, brown candi sugar, fruity esters, diary (lemonyoghurt with brown sugar?), raisins in diluted alcohol. Lactic acid, oak, oakleaf, wet oakwood, sorrel. Pretty hard acidity, buttermilk. Acidburn and -thinning, yet quite slick, even oily feel. Not very carbonated. Pretty decent Oud Bruin, but rather harsh, not mild.

The ‘imperial’ version of Toppling Goliath’s Sue-themed NEIPAs, surfing on the success of their now legendary rare stouts but produced in a larger plant not far removed from the original microbrewery in Iowa. Off-white, thin and open, bubbly head, hazy yellow blonde robe with milky apricot hue. Rich and powerful, exotic nose of ripe papaya, mango juice, fresh fenugreek, granadilla, stale pomelo juice, sweat, overripe onions, starfruit, meringue, yellow kiwi, calvados. Sweet, juicy onset, mango, papaya, granadilla and pomelo, vague lime-ish edge perhaps, softish carb with full, fluffy body; doughy, muesli-like malt sweetness deeply soaked in dense, sultry, tropical hoppiness with thin citric edge, heaps of all that mango, papaya and granadilla returning, offering a little bit of end bitterness but very softly so, while calvados-like alcohol warms a tiny bit – but otherwise remains remarkably well hidden. Tropical hops continue for ages after swallowing. Sultry, ‘heavy’ but still very ‘sunny’ NEDIPA, of no lesser quality than the ‘originals’ from New England itself. Impressed, even if this is not my preferred style. Tops Pseudo Sue for me, if only barely.

Can at home in the garden, 13th July 2023. Pours a deep orange haze. Aroma is mango, grapefruit, citrus, marmalade. Taste is super fruity, pithy citrus, grapefruit, juicy mangoes, pineapple, great bitter grapefruit pith, with long linger. Fantastic triple IPA, which works given the bitter balance

Keg at Tilt, Brum. Aroma is fruity and syrupy, if not OTT. Hazy dark mango. Frothy foamy white head. Medium bitter followed by a big fruity wave. Medium bitter. Sour edge. Develops a big sweet streak. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish.

16oz can from Brewexport UK. A hazy golden/orange/yellow coloured pour with a thinnish white head that doesn't last too long. Hoppy, grapefruit, orange, mango, pineapple, tropical fruit taste and aroma. A complex and highly drinkable TIPA. Excellent.

Floral hoppy, juicy tropical fruity and citrusy with some pine, mango, pineapple and bitterness, hints of sweetness and warming alcohol. A bit heavy but still surprisingly crushable.

Orange, unripe mango and a little pineapple marmelade. Murky yellow pour with Ok soap bubbles. Green onion hop tang is pretty big here, with some booze. Decent body--you'd hope so at 11%. Doesn't necessarily drink like a beer with such a high alcohol rating. Can.
