Near opaque dark brown beer, a good and persistent bubbly tan head. Airy palate, a very mild dryness, decent superfine carbonation on the back end. Airy dark malts, a little dark malt cream. Touches of chocolate and coffee but, they are very much second fiddle to the maple barrel. The maple is rich, fruity and a tad savoury and, thankfully swerves the cloying sweetness it sometimes brings. The Cognac barrel is, unfortunately, also a lesser partner. It does deliver that smooth cognac unsweet caramel ripe fruit thing on the back end but, for me needed a lot more presence to balance out the maple. A relatively light abv suggests well used barrels or a shorter time spent in them. Was this one of the last Dog beers? It's good but perhaps a portent that things were not as good as they should be

Bottle from Brewdog Seven Dials. Chocolate orange, maple & apricot aromas. Nowhere near an imperial stout in the taste, has a 'dipper' feel. Certainly a Cognac backnote but no discernable stout notes, odd but nevertheless a tasty brew.

Draught at BrewDog Ealing, shared with Finn. Bubbles on the surface of a jet black body, spotty lacing. Inviting aromas of chocolate-caramel, mid-sweet and smoothly roasted. Rich taste character, moments of liquorice, vanilla chocolate, caramel, and biscuit. Long-lived ending with chocolate-caramel, lightly roasted. Excellent sipper. (Ealing, London 26.09.2023).

Delt med Rune på BrewDog Ealing. Svart. Middels høyt lysebrunt skum som daler sakte. Aroma av konjakk & sirup. Oljeaktig munnfølelse. Smaken sammensatt. Vanilje. Karamell. Kokos. Nøtter i avslutninga. Perfekt dessert.

Keg at BDCW - London. Pours clear, deep brown with a small, foamy beige head. Medium sweet flavour, quite thick, lots of bitter ash, charred malts, sludgey dark malts, earth. Full bodied, super chewy, soft. Warming finish, bittersweet, dense dark malts, drying ashy notes, hard roast. Not bad.
