Sugary aroma with pepper and nutmeg. Yeasty, somewhat alcoholic flavor, slightly herbal. Sweetish, not really interesting beer.

Another addition to the Graal range, since 2007. Creamy, moussy, light beige head, colour a deep, misty bronze. Sweetish aroma of pear, caramel, chocolate, pepper, yeast, cinnamon, dates, flowers. Sweetish fruity taste, soft caramelly and chocolatey maltiness, bit nutty, typical Graal yeasty spiciness, ending in a mild, herbal, flowery hoppiness with a glow of warming alcohol. Very decent and pretty well-balanced without being world class, like most De Graal beers.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours a hazy brown body covered by a light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, banana esters, raisins, alcohol and vanilla. Taste is lactic, with wet dog, sour malt and chocolate. Light bubbles.

Bottled. Dark mahogany colour, rich beige creamy head. Tart and vinous, lightly herbal. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Sweet and sout with syrup dries out by woody vinuos notes and dust.

Exploded from the bottle upon opening - surprise! Deep dark brown coloured body with a tan head that remarkably dies down immediately, once exploding from the bottle! Aroma of nuts, roasted malt, coffee, prunes, plums and other pit fruits. Medium-bodied; Strong pit fruit flavour with a good and mellow maltiness and very subtle spices. Some sweetness coming afterwards leaving a nice mouthful. Overall, a good beer - nothing truly exciting but decent to try! I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 03-August-2008, sampled on 13-September-2008 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Pours deep brown into a trappist glass. Offwhite head quickly recedes to mottle surface. Pit fruit aromas. Dry and slightly sour from front to back. Soft with a slight bitter finish.

750 ml brown bottle from Liquid Solutions. BBE 06/2009. Slow gusher tried to escape the bottle when the cap came off. Interesting almost cola notes along with dark fruit and roasted malt. Hazy rubyish color with a tan head that rapidly flattened. More than full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is a little brown fruit, darkish malt, lightly spicy, still some persisting cola, very light touch of funk. Seems a bit thinner than I first thought. The cola begins to seem perhaps chocolate. The finish is smooth, with a touch of brown roasted malt, and a wee bit of bitter. There’s a lot going on in this one, but it’s not at the highest end of complexity. Just a very good ale.
