PX is an Imperial Stout aged in Pedro Ximénez wine barrels for 275 days. Brewed with Extra Pale, Chocolate, and Crystalized malts that combine with the profile of the barrel used, resulting in a dense, silky, and flavorful beer that invites to be enjoyed slowly during a meal with aged and blue cheeses or intensely flavored desserts.
Fermented with neutral yeast to give prominence to the malts, the beer shows a marked Pedro Ximénez character along with aromas of dried fruit compote such as plums, figs, or dates, in addition to licorice and caramel.
PX is the seventh creation of the Barrel Works series by Basqueland, a series of unique beers aged in wooden barrels with different previous uses that we created in 2020 to enhance the complexity of our creations and explore new paths in beer making.”
The label was designed in collaboration with Brooklyn-based, Pamplona-born artist, Carlos Irijalba and it belongs to his Gowanus series. In addition to being a world-renowned artist of several mediums, Carlos loves what we love: beer, people, wine, food, and experiences. We are delighted he shared this image with us.
“This creation of striking images of what takes place when the “man-made” meets nature. They are two systems that co-exist but never coalesce”, says Mr. Irijalba.

Bottle shared at "ZZT nieuw leven in blazen"-tasting. Opaque black color, small light brown colored head. Aroma and flavor are malts, a bit dusty, ashy, boozy, roast. Hmm okay. Not a big fan but it's alright.

14/12/2024. Bottle shared by Colin, cheers. Pours black with a small bubbly/frothy beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate, cocoa, dried fruits, fruit cake, caramel, lightly woody, port wine notes. Moderately sweet with some big roasted bitter booziness. Full bodied, smooth, light carbonation. Very flavoursome impy sipper, enjoyed it.

Bottle at home, picked up from an online peddler whom I can't recall, 09/11/24. Shit tier wax ... kind of shattered everywhere when I broke the cap. Black with a khaki cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is mellow roast, spice, charr, light PX tang, cocoa powder, toffee. Taste comprises fruit cake mix, molasses, brown sugar scattering, mellow PX notes, dates, spice, chocolate, raisins, dates. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid easy drinking BA affair.

Draught@TCBW2023. Pitch black colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is floral, some mild toasted with dried fruits, some barrel, alcohol and mild spiciness. Flavour is sweet malts, dried fruits, some barrel and vanilla along with a bit alcohol and some grapes and a bit liquorice and chocolate too. A bit on the aggressive side.
