Hartwall Chocolate Porter gets its soft flavor and full nose from the chocolatey aroma and carefully selected special malts. Like the precious Faberge eggs, this all-malt porter is brewed by hand from the best ingredients, and it deserves the Arthur Ludwig Hartwall's seal - a proof of the uncompromised quality of Hartwall's beers.

Can, labeled 1836 Classic Chocolate Porter, from TBone. Dark brown color. Strong milk chocolate aroma. Malty flavor with loads of cacao, milk chocolate and raisin. Just a hint of aluminium. Sweetish, very pleasant, almost tasting like chocolate milk. Surprisingly good!

440ml can @ vPBF
Pours dark brown, almost black, with a bubbly white head. Metallic aroma with notes of berries, chocolate, some off-flavors. Taste is malty with notes of chocolate, hints of roastiness, berries and earthy notes. Finish has a lot of chocolate and hints of roastiness.

44 cl can @ vPBF as ”Hartwall 1836 Classic Chocolate Porter”, BBE 07/2008. Thanks Pat!
Aroma is stale with some milk chocolate and a slight metallic feeling of contamination. Flavour is slightly tart with some essence-like milk chocolate and metal. Dry finish. Quite the same as I remembered it from 2007. And to think that this can was 5 years old…

Unbelievable. Hartwall has managed to make its first special beer which actually tastes good. The chocolate taste fits in perfectly.

Bottle at Chriso pre-GBBF tasting 09. Very choccy aroma. Too choccy, thin in mouth. Not got the body to carry the drinking choc flavour off.

Eher kurzer Abgang. Nett. Test vom 13.8.2008, Gebinde: Dose Noten: 11,11,11,12,11,11 - 11,15

Canned (as Hartwall 1836 Classic Chocolate Porter), thanks oh6gdx! Dark brown, rich tan head. Aroma of cocoa powder. Medium dry with clean mouthfeel and light body. Flavour is all cocoa powder with a slight metallic edge and a chocolate sauce finish. A fair attempt, but lack ot talent.
