Polish black IPA, enjoyed from tap at Bar Beenhouwer. Greyish off-white, moussey and creamy, medium thick, stable head on a black beer with clear copper-red edges (but very thinly so). Aroma of burnt toast, dried wormwood, dried grapefruit peel, roasted pine nuts, coffee grounds, black pepper, deep-fried parsley, hard caramel. Smooth, subduedly fruity onset, sweetish with a vague touch of umami (black olive), some dried prune perhaps, softly fizzing carb with oily, very slick body; full-on toasty core with slight toffeeish sweetishness at the edges, something caramelly and vaguely dark-chocolatey here and there but the toastiness runs the whole thing and becomes coffee-like and roasted bitter in the end, yet never losing that smooth caramelly aspect; peppery, wormwoody, grapefruit peel-like hops fill the finish along with this roastiness, yet everything remains fairly soft and smooth. Very easily drinkable 'Cascadian', ticking the boxes of what is to be expected from the style - even if a bit more (New World) hop aroma and -bitterness could not have hurt. One I could drink all night.
