650ml bottle.
golden pour, frothy sticky head. Aroma is ALL hops, loads of grapefruit, lemon, orange, even some sweet clementine. Flavor is a mouthload of hoppy goodness. Not sure how this is an American Strong Ale, to me this is an IPA, maybe even a DIPA. Just a great super hoppy beer, i wouldnt expect anything less.

Backlog January 2010. Golden body under a big off-white head. Aroma has citric fruit with malt, quite plain but very nice. Taste is nice and balanced with malt, citric fruit, hint of pine and nice bitterness. Medium body and same aftertaste. Nice one.

Bottle. pale orange color. Grapefruit, mandarin curacao and flowery hops in teh somewhat perfumed aroma. Malty sweet, grapefruity flavor with oily and flowery hops and lychee. Long perfumed hoppy grapefruity aftertaste. Good balance, but the perfume annoys a bit.

Compliments of jwc215...Thanks, Joe!
This pours from 22oz bottle a clear medium gold with a huge head of foam. The foam shrinks very slowly leaving a solid layer for the entire session and there's plenty of lacing to be found.
The smell has a strong nose of citrus hops along with an ample malt sweetness... and is very inviting.
The taste ....wow...this is huge on flavour! Caramel malt permeates my every taste bud but it's offset by a more then abundant citrus(mainly grapefruit) and piney hop presence. Put them together and my palate is literally dancing in the streets. OK, this is a 10%abv brew so I'd better watch it but I can't honestly say that the alcohol is all that noticeable at least, after the first few sips.
A few more sips in and yes, I'm starting to feel the alcohol but it has more of a soothing effect on me than an actual burn and at times, I'm thinking, it's going to get too sweet, I just *know* it but then the hops kick in again and make it not so and..visa versa. Nice. Very nice. And..surprisingly drinkable. One sip absolutely demands another.
And boy, what an aftertaste! The bitter hops in the finish seem to go on and on but it's just not hoppy, it also carries the caramel malt with it and I'm literally amazed at how Southern Tier did this. What an amazing brew!!
Bottom line: I'm so glad I got to try this amazing brew and I'd say grab some if you can. My thanks again to jwc215 for one fine, drinking experience!

65 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori. Rated on 02.05.2009
Aroma is fresh with hops, some citrus and wheaty notes. Flavour has fruits, hops, soapy citrus, some apricot and wheaty notes. Also some alcohol. A stronger version of Hop Sun.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of Jetson! Thanks bro! Fairly hazy, golden orange appearance with a small, cream colored head. Tangy, orange citrusy, very rich malty albeit a bit boozy aroma. Very rich, sweet, somewhat toasty malty, somewhat bitter, tangy flavor. This one may have some age on it- who knows.

Bottle at Håndverkerstuene in Oslo, Norway. Lovely hazy yellow colour with a white head. Alcohol are very rich, disturbing and unpleasant in both aroma and flavour.
