Foxes are known to enjoy fresh cherries—as are our brewers. We take nearly two years to make each batch of this blend of wild ale: one part we age for twelve months in bourbon barrels and the other we sour in a stainless steel tank for eighteen months. After blending, we age it on 3,250 pounds of local balaton and montmorency cherries for an additional four months. The prize: a sour beer filled with fresh notes of tart cherry, malty undertones, and balanced sourness. Take the leap into this bounty of cherry goodness.

Bottle.
A- Pink color, clear liquid, light pink head.
A- Tart, oak, bright, cherry.
F- Acidic, tart, cherry, funky, oak.
T- Light body, average texture, medium high carbonation, tart finish.
O- No detectable bourbon barrel, just some generic oak. This was a year old. Could use a touch more cherry and definitely some bourbon influence. Rather sour and an average amount of funk. Good but not as complex as I'd hoped.

375mL bottled March 2020, drunk 3/17/2022. Clear, bright, fire truck cherry red body has some blonde highlights and a pink-tinged, beige head that is small, steadily fizzling away. Nose is a beautifully developed Brett alongside pulpy/meaty cherry pie-like character which complements the brett nicely. Cracker, wheat, biscuit-sort-of-malt thing keeps the acid in check and soft barrel tannin lingers alongside fruity, nearly juicy cherry and tart Brett on the finish. Soft and bright, still quite piquantly fruity which is a pleasant surprise at two year's of age. Slowly developed Brett doesnt overwhelm but adds a funk that builds complexity alongside honey, vanilla, biscuit and black pepper. Supple, malty texture with high attenuation and no alcohol or flaw noted. Very beautifully structured and has aged remarkably.

Bottle from Ölstudion. Cloudy copper with a brief, whiteish head. Weak cherry cordial, some acetone, a bit of oak. Quite sour. Average.

FLN, la little bit of bourbon sweetness, a lot of cherry funk. Delicious! A bit like a funky cherry bourbon soda, but in a great way via mouthfeel not from overly bubbly.

12.7 oz corked and caged. A little over 14 months old. Aroma is cherry, almondy cherry pits, wood, matchsticks. Pours hazy salmon pink with a two finger pinkish-beigeish-whitish soapy head with excellent retention. Taste is mildly to moderately sour (6/10) with oak aged cherry flavor. I wouldn't have guessed Bourbon barrels without reading the label, but there are certainly characteristics of it if one seeks that out. Highly carbonated foamy mouthfeel. Doesn't taste as good as it smells, but it's pretty good. It would be better with less carbonation.

Bottle from HoTM. It pours lightly hazy rich cherry red with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh tangy cherry, tart and zingy, almond, vanilla, bakewell tart, juicy, citrus zing and oaky bourbon. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, puckering, zingy, bright, deep tangy cherry, juicy, sherbet, orangey citrus, bakewell tart, oak, bourbon, nip of acidity, some spice and light tannin with a dry, cherry skin finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Lovely deep cherry character. Comes together very well. A classy American sour number.

Bottle from Chris M: pours reddish amber with off white head. Aroma is loads of sweet cherries, slight funk. This beer is a great example of a fruited sour that is not acidic or sweet. This is fruity, even juicy at times. It is sweet, but hardly cloying. It is powerful, yet delicate. This is a really good beer.

Amazing beer. Rich cherry and lots of lambic like crackers grapefruit. Pours hazy pink with good head and lacing. Been a little while since I had an Allagash this good. Boys are back in town. Tangy, tart fruit finish. A hint of tangerine. Bottle from Bottle Craft.

375 mL bottle from Niemuth's, 7/5/20. This holiday weekend I'm drinking through the US states to celebrate. This is the last one as I'm out of states I haven't already ticked in the last two days. But its a pretty impressive list... OH, WI, MI, NY, CA, CO, VA, IL, HI, MN, MO. And now finishing with Maine. Hazy red, medium fizzy tan head, good retention. Aroma of cherry, oak, funk, pepper. Taste is tart jammy cherries, oak, charred oak (maybe that's bourbon?), vegetal notes. Medium bodied, lingering tartness, bright. Been a nice journey!
