This traditional lager is medium in body with a deep roasted character. Its dark color and rich malty flavor come from specially roasted caramel and chocolate malts. This brew is lightly hopped with Noble Bavarian hops for a soft spiciness and a smooth clean finish. Cheers!

Very nice Schwarzbier. Poured into a glass at just below room temp.
Head dissipated fairly quickly, with just a fine lacing on the side. Pleasant smell of roastiness followed by excellent roasty flavour with hints of chocolate. Plenty of complexity and still a smooth drinker. A very good candidate for a session beer, imho.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Hannaford. Appearance is dark brown/mahogany with nice sparkle, 1.5-finger width light brown head with fair retention and trace lacing. Aroma is roasted malts with chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, toffee, cocoa, earth. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thick texture, soft-to-average carbonation and bittersweet roasted malt finish. Overall, pretty true to the description. Good.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown to black with brown-greyish head, good lacing. Taste of dark roasted malts, coffee. Taste has a little sweetness, a little bitterness from the roasted malts to balance, but is rather cloying still. Smooth palate, light bodied despite the dark color, watery, rather flat.
