Bottle, gift from Mikkel Dark brown color. Brown sugar and a hint of caramel in the aroma. Sugary and syrupy sweet flavor with Buisman, licorice and caramel and a light herbal hopbitterness. Warming alcohol. Flavorful, but not my favorite from this brewery.

Bottle courtesy of fonefan. Thanks Jan! Hazy amber brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit and dark sugar. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish with a little warming alcohol. This has held up amazingly especially compared to the 2009 version. No sign of oxidation in this one. 140118

Cloudy amber - brown beer, little pale tan head. Slightly dry palate. Toffee malt with aniseed spice. Some oxidisation. Red berry fruits buried a long way down. Aniseed dry finish. Disappointing - this is a tired beer.

66 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Pikkulintu, BBE 24.12.2010
Sweet aroma has raisins, dark fruits and some alcohol. Feels like barley wine. Surprisingly thin palate. Flavour has raisins, some alcohol, spices and dark fruits. A barley wine with some quadrupel features. Good.

660ml bottle @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki
Pours dark orange with a small bubbly head. Aroma has notes of bready malt, caramel, alcohol, toffee and spices. Taste is quite malty with notes of alcohol, hops and caramel. Alcohol burns through in the finish. Tastes more like a barley wine than a quadrupel.

11/11/12/12/13/12

500 ml bottle. Reddish amber body with a small, dense tan head. Aroma of dry fruit, raisins, light malt and alcohol. Flavor is malt, caramel, dry fruit and vinous alcohol. Sweet and harmonic, probably at it’s peak right now (December 2010).
