An Imperial Baltic Porter brewed with chicory root coffee to celebrate Baltic Porter Day 2023.
Taste: Sweet malt is complimented by an intense character of pipe tobacco and cherry blossom. An assertive roast character from the chicory root follows through, with hints of menthol, herbal hoppiness and umami. Best enjoyed under the stars after an evening of smoke sauna.
Appearance: Dark black with a foamy dark brown head.
Nose: Black bread, burnt sugar, and molasses jump out with liquorice, umami, and a hint of foraged mushrooms.
Malts: Pilsner zero, Munich malt, Carafa special T-2, Chocolate rye, Cara pale, Cara 300, Oat malt, Dark sugar
Hops: Magnum, Northern Brewer, Chicory root coffee
OG 24° ; FG 10.6° ; IBU 30

330ml bottle shared at Benny’s place, Kuaia Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived frothy off white head. The aroma is roasty, peaty. The flavour is over moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich., roasty, herbal, dry, earthy, liquorice bitter palate. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with small, dense, creamy, diminishing, minimally lacing, dark beige head. Roasty and chocolately, minimally bready, dark and caramel malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, dark caramel, dark toffee, a touch of pumpernickel, subtle veggie, peppery spiciness, weak fruity overtones with a touch of plum, smoked plum. Taste is roasty and chocolately, minimally bready and smoky, dark and caramel malty with low residual sweetness, notes of dark chocolate, dark caramel, some mocha, dark toffee, pumpernickel, subtle, veggie peppery spiciness, very weak smokiness a fruity touch of plum; well hidden alcohol.
Creamy to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, very fine, soft, creamy carbonation.
Quite complex, lots of subtleties, nevertheless almost light and an "easy" sipper - good!

Snally: blackish with beige head. Roasty, dark fruity notes, a hint of molasses. Taste is somewhat bitter, which mixes nicely with the fruitiness. Good.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 10/07/24. Black with a khaki head that dissipates edgewards. Nose is dark malts, spice, roasted tones, dark chocolate, charr, liquorice stick. Taste comprises earthy roast, spice, cocoa sprinkle, toffee, dried fruit rinds, light booze tunes, faint smoked notes. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Not bad if lacking some depth.

Dark brown colour, small beige head. Toasted, coffeish aroma with sweetish vibe. Medium-bodied. Mellow, sweetish, malty, toasted with coffee (not very roasted one). Ok.

Tap at Zil verne. Full body, med-light carbonation. Med-high bitterness, lots of pleasant coffee and moderate cocoa, overall roasty, but pleasantly smooth. Moderate dried fruits, med-light warmth, pleasantly rounded, easy sipping. Overall very good, classic.

Strong roasted, smoked and chocolate aroma. Black color with very small head. Medium sweet and bitterness. Full doby, bitter aftertaste.
