Bottle from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Nicely nutty aroma with caramel, brown malt, bread crust, and a touch of powdery cocoa. Moderate to medium sweet, light bitter. Superb Dunkel.

50cl Fles, dank Harmen! Ze noemen het zelf een Kellerbier, geen Dunkel. Amber-bruine kleur, vuilwitte kraag. Noten, cacao, hint van erwtjes, licht gebrand, toast, moutig, degelijk bitter. Lichte body. Prima, op locatie zou ik er meerdere van op kunnen.

0.5 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', best before January 2024. Minimally hazy, very dark reddish amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, nutty aroma of caramel, toasted nuts and some bread crust. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, minimally roasty taste of caramel, toasted nuts, some bread crust and a touch of grains, followed by a short, moderately bitter finish. Medium body gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Pleasant Dunkel, great balance.

(Bottle, In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 16 Feb 2024) Reddish brown colour with lasting, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark bread, prunes, raisins and brown sugar. Malty, slightly roasted taste with notes of dark bread, toast, prunes, dark fruit and a mild grassy/herbal bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Harmonious and well balanced dunkel. Nice one.

500 ml can. An unclear copper brown beer with a fluffy head. Raisins, roasted malt, dark bread, dry citrus notes, Kletzenbrot, dried prune, wood, basement and earthy notes. Mild dry bitterness, some malty fruity sweetness. Medium to full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry malty rustic finish. Quite nice, as expected from this brewery, however a bit too sweet.

Der Zunft-Trunk der Hausbrauerei zur Sonne (von Dunkel ist auf dem Etikett nicht die Rede), Flasche von Sagasser, Haßfurt. - Das schöne altmodische Etikett erinnert an Märchenillustrationen. - Kupferrotbraun, schwach trüb; sahniger Schaum. - In der Nase kernig karamelliges, leicht dunkel-röstiges Malz und feine, fränkisch-elegante hopfenwürzige Hopfung mit Orangenschale. - Antrunk tief karamellig-dunkelmalzig mit sehr dezenter Süße, einem Hauch von Landluft, etwas Trockenobst, Andeutungen von Kaffee und Pfeffer und sehr gediegener, mild-aromatischer fränkischer Hopfung. Milder rezent, vollmundig, weich. Im Abgang dezente Hopfenherbe, die ein klein wenig kerniger ausfallen dürfte. - Sehr ansprechendes Kellerbier von fränkisch-solider, die Süffigkeit nicht beeinträchtigender Hopfung, das anders als andere Kellerbiere auch feine Dunkelmalzigkeit integriert. Bottle at Ambasada. Hazy brownish-golden body, laaasting off-white head. Smells like chocolate malt, with soapy touches. Grainy, chocolatey taste, lean, dry, vaguely soapy. Nice smooth body, lightly prickly. Good stuff!
