Roasted malt and espresso in the aroma. Full bodied. Malty flavor. Roast, chestnuts. Certainly not sweet, but with a rather refined bitterness in the aftertaste. Well made and quite likeable doppelbock. Bottle from MoritzF, with my thanks for this hard to find gem!

12/10//10/11/10//10

Bottle. It pours a clear, amber-brown body under a beige head. Chocolate and caramel, dried fruits and some faint notes of licorice, as well as a tiny spiced touch in the aroma. The flavor has icorice, chocolate, caramel, sweetness, and something unidentified tasting strange but nice. Long sweet finish. Full-bodied. A nice one. (081031)

The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass also. Tastes only modest malty, more hoppy. Unusual doppelbock, but not bad!

Bottle, 7.6%. Weak bready aroma. The flavour is also bready, slightly sweet with a hint of liquorice and dark malts. The sweetness reminds me of malt syrup.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of MoritzF. Pours a clear, orangey brown with an off-white head. Sweetish malty, somewhat nutty nose. Very full-bodied with lots of roasted malt and sweetish, dried fruits. Almost no bitterness. Very classical and pleasant Doppelbock, 230807

(bottle) Clear and dark amber colour with a reddish shine and a medium-sized foamy beige head. Sweet and slightly sour aroma of dark and toasted malts and dried plums. Moderately sweet flavour, full to medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Light sweet toast-malty taste, with a fruity and light-sour background. Sweetbitter malts accented tart finish with a whiff of hops. The best brew by Licher I had so far, although it is very decent.
