The Christmas beer is brewed with traditional care; it has an amber-golden color, a malty slightly spicy aroma and a full bittersweet flavor.

Bottle at Battersea BF 2007. Hazy amber colour with sediment in suspension. Thin lasting off white head. Surprising fruit on aroma. Quite spritzey on palate. Some yeast throughout. Some syrupy fruit/malt flavour.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. (9.5%) Muddy amber with extremely lively head. Flowery yeasty nose. Sweet and full bodied with lively carbonation. Lightly grassy with spun sugra and some tart berries. A discrete, yet complex and aromatic beer. Interesting and tasty.

Amber-shot orange beer with a very good, dense, persistent off-white head. Rather aggressive initial nose, industrial washing powder, CO², white candi sugar. Fruity aroma’s, mainly citrus and amber malts. Sweet, caramelly maltcookies with preserved orange on top; caramel filling for a candy bar, ending spicey (ginger mainly, maybe Paradise seed, coriander, vanilla, clove). Alcohol tries to hide, but just doesn’t succeed - not in taste, neither in warming. Quite slick to nearly smooth, creamy texture, lightly burning MF. A bit overpowering, aggressive strong ale. Misses a bit of refinement, which is usually better at Scheldebrouwerij.

2007-11-30, Papsø’s Blind Tasting, 7-3-7-3-14=34
cloudy light amber color. Drinkable strong Belgian ale, with some vegetable touch, light fruitness (apricots in the aroma), a less than strong body, ordinary bitterness. Nothing special.
2006-02-18, 7-4-7-3-14=35
Gorgeous amber color with a generous white head. The aroma, malty, shows some spices as well, perfumy. The mouthfeel, less thick than supposed, is quite ordinary, with some dry malt, light spices and without other characteristics to be noted; it ends with a typical Belgian bitterness (quite bold but not aromatic) and a warming alcohol.
Good, but overall it shows again the problems of the Dutch to match the Belgian quality.

Hazy amber golden color, short head. Weird aroma of some vegetable and bubblegum. Alcoholic and sweet taste. Usually the scheldebrouwerij doesn’t make such weird beers.

(Bottle 75 cl) Hazy amber golden with a handsome, creamy white head leaving a pretty lacework. Aroma of malt and ginger with an odd herbal touch. Rather potent body with the alcohol really shining through. Otherwise dominated by sweetish (pilsener) malt. Very subdued bitterness. 251205
