Armada was originally commissioned by the National Maritime Museum for their quarter centenary celebrations of the defeat of the Spanish Armada by Sir Francis Drake. It has been kept on as a regular beer due to it’s unprecedented popularity amongst Harveys fans.

A golden ale with a fine hop aroma and a clean, balanced bitterness.

The flavour is first malty but not sweet, followed by earthy and fruity hops. Notes of blackcurrants, nuts and toffee, decent bitterness in the finish.

Apple, mustard and caramelaroma. Hazy amber color. Very weak and watery flavor. Caramel and sherry. Apple. Almost no carbon left. Bitter afteratste. Probably way too old.

Bottle from brewery in Lewes. Goes down extraordinarily well and could go the mile for any session at the pub. Not a huge amount of flavour but who cares!

Bouteille 50cl, merci Pierre T. BB 06/2016.

Bottle from Harvey’s. It pours clear pale gold with small bubbly white head. The nose is toasty, grainy, straw, earth and bread. The taste is lightly bitter, grainy, straw, watery, pithy lemon, grassy, musty and bread with a short, dry finish. Light body and low carbonation. Pretty light, earthy and musty. Nowhere near as good as the cask version. Meh.
