Armada was originally commissioned by the National Maritime Museum for their quarter centenary celebrations of the defeat of the Spanish Armada by Sir Francis Drake. It has been kept on as a regular beer due to it’s unprecedented popularity amongst Harveys fans.

bottle from Noble Wines Tunbridge Wells. Golden colour, mid-sized white head. Malty with a grainy touch and hints of fruit, pleasant hoppy finish.

Rating from 2011: Das Bier im Glas ist dunkelorange mit feinporigem weißem Schaum. Im Antrunk zeigt sich die typische Ale-Note, zusammen mit einer angenehmen aber doch im Hintergrund bleibenden Herbe. Im Hauptteil kommt eine interessante, weiche Karamellnote hinzu, die sich gut ins GEsamtensemble mit den Ale-Noten und der Herbe einfügt. Der Nachgeschmack ist mittellang, weich-mild und leicht süßlich, dabei angenehm feinherb. --> Ein leckeres Ale, sehr zu empfehlen! --> 12,11,12,11,12,11 - 11,

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium amber orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, toffee, marzipan notes. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, mazipan malty, fruity, thin. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. Bottle, Carringtons, Chorlton. Poured a clear darkish amber colour with the merest of heads. Not a massive aroma, but what there was contained sweet malt and grassy hops. Flavour quite understated and a similar gig to the aroma. Not without some charm but bordering on average.

500ml bottle. Pale amber with a small, off-white head but plenty of carbonation. Aroma of floral hops with a hint of caramel. Flavour had some biscuity malt with a buttery edge and a short dry finish. Ok.

275ml bottle from an eight pack of assorted Harveys beers (thanks to Wivi-Ann). Golden brown body over a beige foamy head. Bitter fruits in aroma and bittersweet flavour of hops and malt in taste. Thin to medium palate (15.03.2008).
