Frothy head, dark amber color. Citric caramelaroma. Peppery, malty, hoppy flavor with some licorice. Full bodied. Excellent Belgian saison.

At Hopishop 2017. Aroma of dusty waste, raisin and yeast. Taste has dusty malt, yeast and flavors I would expect to come from the garbage bin. I'm happy this one was free, what a disgusting beer.

Du Bocq’s representation of the saison style, with thick, moussy, stable, off-white head and coppery amber colour with somewhat brownish hue, hazy. Fruity and yeasty aroma of strawberry, melon, orange, mango, mint, candi sugar, tea, pepper, sweet sherry, honey, leather. Fruity and softly malty taste, caramelly and nutty like a ’spéciale belge’, sweet spices (star aniseed), hop bitterish finish. Less earthy than the Dupont, Vapeur or Fantôme saisons and losing lots of its flair (including the ethereal spices) when aged, but still a complex, well-made beer.

29/XII/13 - 33cl bottle from De Bierloods / Zytholoog (Adegem) @ home - BB: 6/VII/12 (2013-1195)

Note: when I learned that this beer would be discontinued I tried in quite a few places to get a hold of it. Took me almost a year to find a bottle, and by then it was of course expired. Oh well...
Clear dark orange beer, fluffy aery white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: spicy, coriander, hay, bit sugary, candy syrup, caramel. MF: lots of carbon, medium to light body. TAste: little malty, sweet, grains, some citrus, bit spicy, coriander, caramel. Aftertaste: pretty bitter, caramel, orange peel, coriander, card board, but I'm willing to ignore that last part, because of the age.

Clear dark amber coloured body wit ha bit of a bronze glow and a tint of amber with a thin tan oily head. Aroma of alcohol, yeast, metal, hay and grass - strong and pungent. Medium-bodied; Super strong pungent yeast and alcohol flavours with a big hay and grassy flavour at first and a big noticeable bit of grapes, cherries and medicine right afterwards. Aftertaste shows relatively pungent flavours with the hay, grass, medicine and alcohol notes the strongest. Overall, not such a great beer an definitely not a good saison - this one fits better in the belgie ale category, and even then - not so good. Neat to sample, but I wish I didn’t wast space in my suitcase for this one! I sampled this 25 cL bottle purchased from Beer Mania in Bruxelles, Belgium on 19-August-2013 for €1,99 sampled at home on this side of the Atlantic in Washington on 24-September-2013.
