Speight’s is the beer of choice after a hard day’s work. Probably the least sweet of all New Zealand beers, this characteristic allows the full flavour of the malt and hops to shine through. Speight’s Gold Medal Ale is a great accompaniment to any meat dish and is superb with Southern game dishes such as venison, duck and rabbit.

On tap at Speight’s bar, Temple. Gold, lasting cream head. Very carbonated, some nice fruit, bit metallic. But fine. Unexciting, but ok.

From 33 cL can. Pours golden yellow with a white head. Aroma is mild grassy. Flavour is watery, mild malty flavour, no real bitterness.

(Can 33 cl) Courtesy of Bov. Clear, amber golden with a dense, off-white head leaving some lacework - far from your typical pale lager look. Lightly sweet, malty nose. Fairly light body with weak caramel notes and a lightly bitter finish. Drinkable but rather bland. Oh sweet memories.... 290607

dark amber, with a little carbonation. sweet oveltine nose, with a light lageryness and an oveltine maltynesss

Bright golden-amber colour. Aroma is light bread, caramel and slightly earthy hop. Quick, kind of watery palate with a crackerlike malt note and late caramel sweetness.

Dark golden color, not much head. Grassy, lager-like cardboardish nose. Grassy, hoppy, cardboardish flavors. Boring and propably a lager despite of name.

A caramel colored beer with a fine though collapsing white head. The aroma is of straws and hops with hints of caramel and sourness. The flavor is a weird flowery one with notes of caramel, hops, figs, and hints of sourness.
