We have just solved a brewery mystery (and it is delicious). We wondered what would happen if we put 2004 Dominion Millennium in oak barrels that had bourbon in them for five years. Three months later we had Oak Barrel Millennium. Something special, we think. Ruby-red color with a wide range of complex flavors. Malt and sherry predominate.

Fabulous fruit cocktail aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, and cranberry. Cloudy ochre color, no head. Dry initial taste that becomes grapefruit and piny. Subdued but decent hop finish. Alcohol content is masterfully masked, making this a dangerous brew. Not dark or heavy.

Bottle @ Akkurat, Stockholm. Pours a hazy amber color with an off-white head. Malty woody oak vanilla aroma. Sweet malty oak flavor with some hints of caramel and vanilla and also some hints of dark fruit. Sweet malty warming finish with hints of dark fruit and vanilla in the aftertaste.

Bottle from JB175; Thanks!!! Nose of caramel, berries, and vanilla; lightly hazed copper with a medium beige head; flavor of hop bitterness, sweet caramel, and some merlot wine flavor. Body a little on the thin side but a wonderful finish of sweet and bitter, with a little alcohol warmth. Great complexity for a barlewine. Wish I had traded for a couple more bottles.

12oz Bottle pours out a ligth copper topped with a off white head. Nice aroma of sweet and a little hop. There was also some wood pretty good I WOOD say. Get it WOOD

Bottle. Virtually no head. There was an alcohol aroma, but definitely not as strong smelling as the regular Millennium. It is hard to translate into words about how shocked I am about the aroma and flavor of this beer. It has a rich vanilla and wood aroma, and a fantastic sweet, rich flavor that few beers I have ever had can compare to. This is the best Barley Wine I have ever had.

A hazy dark amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with lots of overripe fruits, as well as light notes of alcohol, caramel, and lemon. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of alcohol and overripe fruits, leading to an end with notes of citrus combined with a bitternes, and a alcohol burn lingering on the tongue.

Bottle at SlutFest 2011 on 04/23/2011. Bottle code 040205 Clear golden amber body with a small creamy white head. Sweet vanilla, oak, and yeast aroma on a caramel background. Sweet vanilla, oak, fruit, yeast and caramel flavor. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation. 8/3/8/3/16 3.8 On 03/31/2006. Hazy dark amber color with a thin fully diminishing off-white head. Strong oaked aroma with some light molassas and caramel hints. Notably oaked flavor with sweet caramel and vanilla flavors. 8/4/9/3/17 - 4.1

The body is the color of amber maple syrup under a fleeting smallish head of white. Cold right after the pour this has the aroma of fresh cold apples. Caramel begins to come on as it warms. The flavor is sweet, but not overly so, with a bit of bourbon.

Yellowish tinted head, gone in seconds to a rim, upheld by well-carbonated, faintly hazy darker orange-amber beer. Sweet cocoscream nose, vinous, grapes & raisins, old portwine and (new) oak. Light sourish hints playing around the edges, slightly lactic and tannic. Quite tart & dry, very woody taste, gliding over a massive sweetwater lake, hidden under tannic ice. Vanilla, grape, raisins, prune, pineapple and passionfruit flavours. Harsher than the nose, there’s hopoils hovering in the background - not really American hopslike. Rather harsh, resiny MF. Slightly sweet again in the aftertaste under all the resiny force - malt dose must be immense. Another one I should have aged. Oh well, it’s near 1 yr already - and I craved it. Many thanks, Craig!

Clearish orange body, thin light cream head. Aroma of candy, light fruit, caramel, and sharp alcohol notes. Very thin-bodied with big alcohol flavors, strong oak and vanilla, light fruits and sharp, sweet caramel and brown sugars. The alcohol seemed unduly harsh. Perhaps this suffers a bit in my rating because it was sampled right after trying Alesmith BA Old Numbskull. Still a decent barleywine despite its flaws.
