Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

LCRBM2: Banana and grapes in the almost vinous aroma and flavor. Brown sugar aftertaste. Indeed, not very subtle.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 2006. Pours hazy almost opaque dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, prune, grape, caramel, toffee, molasses, banana, clove, toast, chocolate, light roast, and dark earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and yeast ester notes; maybe some slight oxidation but its hardly even there. Taste of big raisin, prune, caramel, chocolate, toast, toffee, molasses, clove, dark bread, light banana, light roast, wheat, and earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, toast, toffee, molasses, clove, light banana, dark bread, light roast, wheat, and earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark malt and fruity ester notes; with no cloying sweetness present after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Weizenbock at 7 years old! Great balance and complexity of malt/fruity ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Clear dark brown beer. Short lived tan head. Smooth malty caramel - chocolate with a banana streak. Silky spirity malt. A biting carbonation before the malty-spirity finish. A boozy bananoffee surprise!

Bottle. Poured near black with a slight red tinge and a thin light brown head. Aroma has a strong alcohol sent with some smokey malt characters. Flavor also has a bit of a harsh alcohol flavor that overwhelms the malty flavor. It may be past its peak at this point.

A dark clear brown bock with a thin off white head. A sweet banana aroma, with licorice, maple and alcohol. In mouth, a rather striking licorice, sweet candy malt with caramel, burned roasted notes, a bit of alcohol and lactic acids. Rich and intense. Tasted April 2007.

Bright burgundy. Deep fruitiness with whole grain breadcrust. Very alcoholic, with a rich soy sauce character and again a deep fruitiness. Woody, dense black forest cake. Almost Samiclausy with a fat, warming finish.

Dark ruby with a firm off-white head. Complex aroma featuring figs and dates, licorice and molasses, and some bready munich maltiness. Sweet and fruity flavour, vineous and thick. Licorice and malt in a dry finish. The alcohol feeling falls somewhere between warming and burning. I suppose this is my first wheat wine

Pours with an ultra dark brown body accompanied by a largish, creamy, light brown head. Good lacing from the head. Aroma is metallicy, with vanilla, plum, rotten banana, and some brown sugar. Taste is burnt malts, some fruityness, spicines, and then a nutty after taste with some yeasty saltiness. Smooth mouthfeel.
