Inspired by the Belgian Flanders Red style, this ruby-hued Ale is brewed with toasted malts, fermented with a mixed-culture blend, then oak-aged on an abundance of cherries. Commonly described as wine-like, expect notes of tart cherry, cinnamon stick, and vanilla from our take on this traditional sour. Drink fresh or cellar. Borealis was awarded a Bronze Medal in the Belgian-Style Sour Ale beer-style category in the 2023 World Beer Cup.

Draught at CX location, 1/18/23. Lightly hazy, blood red. Small, pinkish head to ring. A bit of Brett mixing with light acetic notes and playful cherries. Great cherry character though this one smells like it's going to be incredibly sour. Sour but with soft, comforting malt, playful Brett and intense cherry pie-like fruitiness. Soft oak and rich maltiness with light vanilla and strong acidity on the finish. Excellent texture and about as on point as you're getting for a Flemish red. Certainly worlds better than rodenbach.
