70/30 blend of three year old Hanssens Gueuze and Lurgashall Mead from England. It was released around Christmas 2001 in 375ml bottles.

Hmm, well this is different. First off, I fell in love with the nose, with a nice farmhouse funk rounded out by a very well defined sweet honey aroma that tended floral. The flavor took a u-turn however, with a milder presence of funk and an unusual pickled olive flavor to go with it. Slightly cheesy, like a good blue cheese. Very dry, with a moderately hard acidity: sour but it won’t hurt. Golden orange color with quite a bit of effervescence foaming up in the glass before settling down again quickly. Surprisingly, the palate was not very carbonated, and it sat a bit thick and still on the tongue. Moderately refreshing, too bad it wasn’t hotter today.

bottle - The cork on my bottle looked much as GarrettB described, so it wasn’t just his. Odd. It poured yellow with no head, few carbonation bubbles visible, and a funky aroma. The flavor has the expected lambic funk with a mildly sweet undercurrent. The lambic aspects clearly dominate this beer. I too would classify it as a gueuze rather than a mead. It seems a touch watery even as it warms, but nevertheless the mead is blended well and the result is enjoyable.

Bottle at Rich O’s Publick House during RBSG Road Trip 2007. Cloudy orange body with a rapidly diminishing frothy white head. Very sweet honey aroma with a sour background. Sweet puckering sour fruit flavor with a light honey background. Fairly high carbonation with a fizzy mouthfeel. Kinda a gimmick brew, but certainly makes a tasty combination.

Bottle. Opened like a bottle of champagne (luckily I was warned by SoLan and didn’t spiil a drop). Strong musty lambic aroma with noticeable honey and white pepper notes. Golden yellow with gigantic head. Sour musty cracker flavor with just a hint of the mead. HIgh carbonation. More traditional gueuze flavor - expected it to be sweeter but it’s very dry - a bit like Cantillon’s Faro with higher carbonation.

Bottled (9% ABV, thanks to joergen & co). Hazy orange colour, small white head. Aroma is a mix of mead (the honey) and gueuze. Flavour is honey and sourness. Strange mix, a lovely idea, which works quite well, atleast for me.

Style 68/70 Bottle from beastiefan2k; Thanks for helping me find this! Blew the cork to the ceiling but the beer stayed put and didn’t foam, Poured down the glass side and got 1.5" beer and 5" of head, hazy gold with off white head, nose was slightly tart apricot and honey, flavor was just slightlt tart, not what I expected with 70% gueuze, it was fruity with spice and apricots.

Pours amber into a tumbler. Frothy, medium-sized off-white head. Mead and mold aromas. Tastes like a Chardonney-- and I don’t really like white wine. Most white wine-like of any beer.

Bottle at Reading BF 06. You could hear these bottles being opened clear across the tent. I told the barmaid to be careful, but she didn’t listen and therefore she gave a heart attack to everyone else stood at the bar when the cork hit the tent roof. Gold cloudy beer with bubbly off white head. Sour aroma typical of gueuze. Bit of farmyard. Slight sweet edge. This is wonderful though.

Explosive corked bottle, resulting in a big frothy head. The color is yellow, almost golden, the brew is clear.
The aroma is extremely pungent, I don’t understand which gas can make me jump back from the glass; with a bit more of precautions, I smell the typical Gueuze cellar aromas; I’m not sure of the honey, but I’m sure that there is also the smell of the Asian shops in Europe, a mix of stale and sour fruits, and something perfumy.
The mouthfeel is quite dry, less interesting than the aroma, with a reasonable astringency and some sourness, but without any complexity.
The palate is too short and empty.
It’s not bad, and it’s curious, but I feel it more like a sort of French corked cider than a Gueuze or a Mead or a mix of them.
