Bottled. Light, clear copper brown, not much head. Smoke, tar and butterscotch in the aroma. Crisp carbonation, good smokey-tar flavor. Long malty and smokey aftertaste.

Pale orange with amber shine; very carbonated to a disparate off-white, nearly transparant head. Smoked nose, as in smoked ham, "Schinken" (drank as "Frühschopp’n"...apt). Some sweet malt seems to lurk underneath, but it is indecisive. Few smoked beers have such an apert smoked ham & bacon taste, even not the much darker & intense Schlenkerla range - this is much more watery in texture and MF, but tastes expressly as smoked ham with sparkling water. The malts in the background represent the brown sliced bread, but they are not the top priority in this Franconian dinner. I’m just missing out the mustard. Actually, the saltiness is rather restrained here. Rather light MF, sparkling water-like, but the taste fills in everything anyway. Certainly not bad (I’m a s*cker for Rauchbiere), but this one is a tad unidimensional.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pale amber with a creamy, off-white head. Marked aroma of smoked malt. Full, sweetish body with some caramel. But completely dominated by a fat, baconish smoke flavour - Bamberger style. Dry. lightly hoppy finish. 190206

A hazy amber beer with an OK off-white head. The aroma is lovely smoked with some tar notes. The flavor is sweet smoked with light tar notes. A nice smoke beer.

(bottle) Clear amber colour with a small frothy off-white head. Sweet and smoky malty aroma with a tinge of caramel. Bittersweet flavour, medium to light body, moderate carbonation. The smoked flavours are very present from the beginning to the finish, accomplished with an inititial slightly honeyish sweetness and a rounded bitterness at the end.

Bottle (Landbierparadies): A little bit hazy, light amber coloured; thin, but lasting foamy layer; (sweet-) malts, caramel and a touch of smoked bacon in the nose, traces of hops, but hardly detectable; sweetish, malty start, drier, slightly bitter flavour; sweet-bitter malty finish with a touch of smoked salmon; a very well rounded, pleasant and easy drinkable Rauchbier !

Pleasant fruity malt aroma with a hint smoke. Dark red orange, low head and carbonation. Great full malty body. Starts out with fruity flavors, then a dry subtle smoke sets in and the whole thing is finished of with crisp bittering hops. Very nice.
