Old fashioned type swing top bottle with a single neck label. Bottle sold at the brewery by an elderly man, probably the brewer, who spoke a Franconian dialect that was almost impossible to understand for a foreigner who does speak the German language. Golden color. Boiled milk and manure in the aroma. Malty, firmly hopped beer with a lot of barnyard character. I will be amazed if this brewery still exists in 5 years or so. But I will definitely check in 2010 or so....

(draught at the brewpub) Clear, golden colour with a short foamy white head. Mildly sweet grainy and slightly buttery malty aroma with a tinge of herbal hops. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Good pale malty body with grainy accents and herbal hops; almost dry, malty and slightly herbal hoppy finish. Just a solid Helles from Franconia. 17.IV.11

Ceramic mug. Lightly fruity aroma. Malty - some caramel and possibly diacetyl. Vaguely refreshing, with a toasty dried leaf note in the finish. Not really my favorite frankenlager.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear golden colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is citric, has a little malt sourness. Hint of dust. OK, but not great.
