Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, alcohol, dried fruits, notes of cognac, and more alcohol. Flavour is sweet and fairly bitter for the style, with sharp warming booze. Body is medium to full with a sticky mouthfeel. Too boozy for my taste, with some unpleasant sharp alcohol.

(Keg at Pikkulintu Ruttopuisto, 20201203) The beer poured dark brown and cloudy. Its head was small and nearly white. Aroma had caramel, molasses, prunes and malts. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, prunes, molasses, earth and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. A tasty strongly malty brew. The ABV was well hidden.

Bottle from local swap, kindly donated by teddybeer, many thanks. hazy brown color with beige head. Aroma of candies, sweet malt, toffee. Taste, toffee, candies, sweet malt, dried fruits, alcohol, too much alcohol.

Let's try rating this again. First attempt didn't work because Ratebeer IT is ... Well I just give up! Clear amber beer, residual pale tan head. A fairly basic barleywine is this. Slightly tangy toffee caramel. Tangy ripe fruits. Alcohol spice. Fine but might be better in five years!

Bottle brought back from a Barcelona beer shop - many thanks to Kevin! Pours hazy brown with a big, slowly collapsing, foamy, tan head; little lacing. Intense aroma of brioche (with raisins), ripe plum, candied fig, orange peel, cookie dough ('Grany' biscuit), green tea, amaretto, almond, dates. Taste is medium to heavy fruit sweet, lots of raisin, dates & plum, as if drenched in liqueur though; faint ripe pear renders it a bit phenolic, supported by a sweet bread-like malty base with a touch of salted caramel; light herbal bitter middle has tea leaves, spicy cinnamon & vague orange peel. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, lingering raisin, dough, spices, and a firm dash of warming liqueur (almost amaretto) alcohol. Full body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Lovely stuff to knock yourself out.

Bottle 330ml. @ 10th. BBF 2018 [ 10th Borefts Beer Festival 2018 ] @ Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands. [ As La Pirata Lab Nº 009 Barley Wine ].Hazy matt medium amber colour with a small to average, frothy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, bread, sweet malt, caramel, dried fruit, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a long duration, rich malt, dried fruit, sweet malt, alcohol - boozy, caramel. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20180921] 7-3-7-4-14

Bottle picked up in Northern Spain, consumed at home Sunday 28th October 2018 whilst cooking Shepherds Pie with Ndjua and also some Seafood Lasagne I've just spent 5-10 minutes sipping this beer and writing all my thoughts down only to lose them and have nothing to show... Grrrrrrrrr..... So frustrating. A great beer, molasses led, fruity, boozy (but not so boozy) it's even really quite hoppy. Lovely. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8
