Dark color. Poor aroma, with just a hint of roasted malt. Taste of caramel, some burnt sugar; quite metallic.

Looks like cola, tastes like a mediocre dark lager - oh, wait, I guess that’s what it is - anyway, the odd thing about this beer is that it kind of tastes like the jever pilsner with caramel and chocolate flavors added to it - not a very good experience.

Schmeckt fein herb, das ändert sich jedoch recht schnell zu einm typischen Schwarzbier Geschmack. Im großen und ganzen ganz ordentlich. Test vom 21.9.2004, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 7,9,9,8,6,9 - 8,50

A dark brown beer with a fine chocolate brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, licorice, straw, and malt. The flavor is grainy sweet with notes of caramel, nuts, and hints of licorice. It has a very bitter end both coming from bitter hops and roasted malt. A very nice Schwarzbier.

Black, almost opaque colour. Nice white head vanishing slowly. Aroma has some hops. Flavor is like sweet dunkel with bitter hops thrown in, giving some bitter aftertaste.

Nearly black-brown with reddish shine. Small yellow-brown head, lacy. Some dark malt in the nose, herbal, grassy, dishwater (glass?). Bitter taste, both from malts & hops, bitter chocolate flavour. Then malt comes up. Medium bodied. Long bitter flavour in the aftertaste, not unpleasant. Pleasing. Nowhere as classic as the Jever Pilsener, but nice.

Flat dunkel appearance, with a light coffee aroma. Lightly hopped and slightly malty flavours. A reasonable beer, light, sightly watery and drinkable.

Arghh! I expected a crossbreed between the typical hoppy dryness of a Jever and a nice Schwarzbier - instead I got a bland international style lager which can not be saved by the nice dark red color and the stylish bottle.
