Barrel-Aged Almond Cake is a bold, sumptuous imperial stout brewed with harmoniously blended dark malts and conditioned on Madagascar vanilla beans and toasted almonds. More than three years of subsequent maturation in bourbon barrels adds well-structured oak presence, mellow spirit character, and graceful smoothness.

Out of the bottle, Barrel-Aged Almond Cake pours an opaque, jet black with an inviting light brown head. Swirling the glass brings forth opulent aromas of caramel-coated almonds, vanilla cream, chocolate brownies, and wispy bourbon. Upon first sip, the palate opens with satisfying waves of almond-vanilla latte and freshly-baked chocolate confections leading to notes of dark fruit and subdued oakiness.

Soft, roasted notes balance sweeter tones with a slight, rounded bitterness. With a thick, rich mouthfeel and delicate finish, Barrel-Aged Almond Cake is a decadent dessert for any celebratory occasion.

bottle from kihoskh, cost betw. 300 and 400 dkk for 1/2 liter bottle. aroma is bourbon ba imp stout with a lot of sweet vanilla and cake frosting on top of that. Things are well balanced and it is in fact a bit amazing that they managed to make 15.7% alc. feel not brutal. Flavor is chocolate, almonds, faint cake frosting, bourbon, roasted malts. very complex and balanced, first impression might be it's a bit messy but later sips feel very balanced but just very complex. I can relate to the picture of the almond cake on the bottle - it does actually taste a lot like that. I can taste the brown caramelly sweet stripes, the dark chocolate stripes, and the roasted almonds on top. So... Pretty awesome job. Clearly among the best pastry stouts out there.

Bottle split at the Level 6 Xmas Bash, thanks to Dave, 15/12/22. Black topped with a tan cap. Nose is chocolate, light spice, toffee fudge, booze, molasses. Taste comprises dark malts, toffee, chocolate melt, brown sugars, nutty, almond praline, dried fruit rinds. Full bodied, oily feel, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid.

Bottled 500ml. -at Goblet Zagreb. Pitch black coloured, minimal brownish head that went away within few seconds, almond and alcohol in the nose. Almond, bourbon, vanilla, light wood and noticable alcohol with light chocolate and dry finish. Well done and highly enjoyable but 49€ for bottle is quite over-priced.

500mL bottle drunk 9/9/23. Dark. Tan head instantly to edge. Nice whiskey in the nose. Hint of caramel, spicy vanilla, warm, gooey whiskey. Rich, mellow malt and barrel. Almond paste is nutty and mellow, as well. Soft, rich, sweet, succulent, hint of caramel with soft, mellow, lightly spicy vanilla and strong but mellow whiskey. Syrupy, sweet, malty, rich, but not boozey. A touch sweet.

Bottle shared in Canary Wharf - many thanks to Dave. Pours deep brownish black with a foamy, tan head. Big and sweet, nice gooey toffee, brown sugar, raisins, molasses, moderate booze, soft roast, nips of earth, cherries. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, sticky sweet, some bourbon and vanilla, more toffee, dark fruits, chocolate. A decadent and highly enjoyable sipper.

Xmas Boozy Bottleshare. Thanks to Wingman. Almost opaque dark brown beer, teeny tiny tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth but slightly thin dark malts, very good dark chocolate. Dark chocolate biscuits. Caramel and mildly boozy bourbon. Quite a light and dry finish. Nice job, tad dry.
