English style barley wine, brewed in 2019 and aged in Côtes du Rhône red wine barrels for 2 years, then blended with another unique 3 month old English style barley wine and aged for a further 3 months on ripe Genoa figs and sticky Deglet Nour dates (70g/l).
Rich caramel and complex fruity layers, backed up with a smooth and gentle tannic vanilla backbone from the extended barrel aging - Giulia is a blend of sophistication and decadence.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours a lovely brunch mahogany brown with a sturdy yellowy - beige head. The aroma is sweet and intoxicating, loads of dried fruits, date, prune, raisin, booze soaked oak, vinous, dried cranberry, fruit cake, figgy pudding, toffee and jam. The taste is bitter - sweet, but with a sour edge, red wine vibes, cranberry pucker, red grape, fig, date, prune, jammy and tangy, hint of acidity, toothy, chewy, some spice, leathery tannin, hint of fizzy cherry bottles, soapy florals, charred oak, warming booze and some ashy spice through the finish. Fulsome body and fizzy carbonation. Love the aroma, but the taste is a bit sharp and astringent tbh. Good depth of flavour, but let down by being too long in the barrel, a shame.

On tap at Shilling, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma brings out dark dried fruits, some vinous tones, oaky tannins, and caramel. Flavour is rich and complex, with red wine barrel, dates, figs, and dry toasted caramel. Complex and well-crafted. Really well-done.

Can from Appellation Wines. Pours clear reddish amber with a thin off-white head. Aromas of red wine, treacle toffee, figs, caramel, light leather. Boozy in a good way. Taste has prunes in armangac, mixed peel and boozy fruit cake. Bit of woodiness at the back. Some sherry tones. Nice. Very nice.
