Single hop double dry hopped DIPA praising the Nelson Sauvin hop. Fruity and grape like aroma backed with a strong flavour of passionfruit and fresh gooseberries.

3rd June 2023
Can. Hazy yellowish gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, slightly soft with biting fine carbonation emerging late on. Smooth malts, creamy sweet, as in very. Right then, any hope for Nelson Sauvin here? The once great NS? Soft skunk and some ripe tropical fruits. Mild petrol tinged pine. Some hop spice. Okay, there are touches of white grape and white wine on the back end, but you have to be looking for them and there was a time, many moons ago, that it was the dominant characteristic and would punch through on most brews. Finishes smooth and with some hop spice that indicates that this a fresh brew with fresh hoppage but you can only do so much with a hop that has drifted so far from what it once was.

440ml can from Villeneuve Wines at a campsite in Innerleithen after riding the Golfie. Opaque murky unclear yellow, small white head. Quite pulpy, exceptionally sweet, presenting a slightly different Nelson character to what I'm used to with some passionfruit and mango coming through alongside a full, almost dank smoothie palate. Ok, but just a bit too sweet.
