GBBF, cask. Aroma has roasted malt. Firm licorice apple and roasted malt flavor. Long roasted bitter finish. Loads of flavor for the modest alcohol content.

Cask at GBBF ’17, 11/08/17. Charcoal aroma. Jet black. Bubbly beige head. Light bitter. Creamy finish. Light bodied. Surprisingly watery. A prickly of carbonation. Abrupt finish. An uninspiring stout. Drinkable. That’s it.

Chelmsford Beer Festival. Opaque dark brown beer, no real head. Smooth low carbonation palate. A little roasty malt with bitter licorice. A smooth but pretty grapefruit bitter finish. Ok but a few too many rough edges.

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 5 Aug 2010) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with coffee, chocolate and cocoa. Roasted, malty taste with notes of dark chocolate and coffee. Creamy and dry with a generous espresso bitterness in the finish. Medium body, dry and fairly bitter. Very nice stout.
