Van de tap op terras Venbergse molen Valkenswaard. Donkergeel tot licht oranje bier met schuim. Smaak is licht bitter hoppig en licht kruidig. Verrassend goed pilsener.

Only a hint of malt in the aroma. Metal both in aroma and taste. Neutral, malty taste with a hint of liquorice.

Geprobeerd van tap. Het is een goudgeel pilsner met een stevige witte schuimkraag. De smaak is moutig en licht bitter.

Standard pale lager Bavaria took over from De Kroon. Snow white, irregular, dense, sticky head, colour deep golden blonde, clear. Weak aroma with faint pale malts, straw and some herbal hoppiness. Light maltiness in the mouth, bit metallic, mineral water, brief but still quite pungent hop bitterness in the finish. Uninteresting but better than Bavaria’s own ’pils’ brand, that’s for sure.

The recently retired Kroon pilsener from my hometown brings some nice memories to my mind. Obviously it’s just a standard pilsener, but for once I’m being sentimental and therefore rating taste at an 8.

Kroon used to be made in my hometown (Oirschot, Netherlands). Bavaria bought it and are now slowly pushing this off the market. Kroon is a decent pilsener and scores accordingly.

For some reason Kroon pils has been the long time local festival draught in the region where I grew up. Bit sweet, some light hops, not very special but very drinkable. (draught @ countless festivals, fairs and markets)
