Draught at Trillium Garden, 6/13/18.
Dark ebony, opaque it seems, with a small, tan head receding to light cover.
Roast shares space nicely with vanilla and rich, bittersweet treacle with light char working its way in towards the end. Vanilla beans really smell rich and almost vinous. Quite aromatic and enjoyable. Mixing with the malts it produces notes of leather and a cherry-strawberry-like fruitiness. Much like a vanilla-tipped cigar. Yet again, per this series, it's not really boozy, sharply estery or intensely sugary/fudgey.
In the mouth it shows soy and vanilla with bourbon-soaked toffee, light alcohol and cherry vanilla-tinged brandy. Wow...that's intense but yet again it pushes the envelope of sweet and rich while finding (in my opinion) enough acidity to balance. Sumptuous and decadent of course, with dried cherry, prune, light vanilla and cacao-like bitterness lingering. Low but tight carbonation and no thick fudge or much in the way of syrup. Treacle, dark chocolate and spicy, rich vanilla continue to add perky acidity all the way to the end of the glass. Pretty frighteningly drinkable. Almost went back for more the next day....

Poured from bottle dated 5/24/18 black brown with no head nice lacing. Aroma is vanilla marshmallow caramel slight alcohol. Taste is a tad sweet notes of dark chocolate vanilla caramel with a viscous coating that lingers.

750 ml bottle. Date of 5/24/18. Tan head that slowly faded on a pitch black liquid. Aroma is vanilla, cocoa nibs, caramel. Jeez, smells like diabetes. Well, the mouthfeel is almost flat. The flavor is really sweet. Huge disappointment. Didn’t live up to all of the other J Wakefield collaborations.
