250ml bottle from Carrefour. Pours a generally clear deep red, large foamy white head. Syrupy sweet cherry, can't taste any black pepper.. not great, too artificial and a touch cloying.

bottiglia 33 cl, schiuma rosa fine media persistenza, colore rosso mogano limpido, al naso intenso sciroppo d’amarena marzapane e fragola, in bocca sciroppo d’amarena mandorla marzapane e lieve pepata, corpo leggero, watery, carbonazione forte, acidità praticamente assente, molto dolce con amaro percettibile. Buona, un po' più sfiziosa della sorella classica. c. Iper Varese 17.05.25

Bottle from the local HIT drunk after a whisky tasting with Chris and Olaf. Dark red with tall pink head. Nose is the gummy cherries I used to buy at Faneuil Hall as a kid, with hints of black pepper that I might not have noticed but for the beer name. Flavor is slightly less artificial than the nose, sweet but very simple, one dimensional with some weird pepper-ish note.

A: hazy red, stable, foamy, pink head.
A: 'poepegatjes', liquorice, maraschino cherry, vague black pepper or clove.
T: sweet cherry, raspberry, sugared red jam, red candy, herbal liquorice.
F: vague peppery hops, sweet cherry & lemon candy.
P: medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation.
Terribly disappointing in the Kriek & pepper department, but actually overall too.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 30A: black pepper / 23F: cherry). Bottle 25 cl - Batch 15:09 (BB: 16/10/2025). AROMA: medium-high cherry pit aroma with an bitter almond-like character, medium pepper. APPEARANCE: ruby red color and translucent. medium-low light-pink head with average retention for style. TASTE: medium cherry pit followed by medium-low pepper. medium-low bitterness with a semi-sweet and slightly peppery finish. MOUTHFEEL: medium-low body with medium-high carbonation. OVERALL: an interesting combination although the cherry pit is overwhelming and distracting.
