Hoptimum is a dapper brute, at once full of charm yet audacious at 11% ABV. Our brewers revisit this Triple IPA each year, experimenting with hop varieties to find the ultimate aggressive and refined mix.
Hoptimum’s 2023 appearance ramps up the West Coast flavor profile, dry hopping with Simcoe, Idaho 7, Chinook, and Magnum for heaps of resinous pine and a fruity medley of orange, grapefruit, and berries. The soaring ABV and IBU find balance in the sturdy malt body, yet this giant still drinks crisp and smooth, just like Hoptimum’s outfit.

Best before 06/24, from Ingelheim, august 2023. Time to open this beer yesterday after a visit at the Christmas market Morges. For me, it was a generous and well brewed imperial ipa, rich note of malt, so citrus and bitter, sweet and malty, boozy, subtle herbal note.

Draft. A light amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, anf fruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of citrus fruit, hops, spices, caramel, and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Solid powerful ipa Clear deep golden pour and a fine head. Good lacing Fine intensity in the aroma. Not to sweet and a fine bitterness. Also a fine carbonation level. Easy to drink. Solid malty, fruity, caramel, resinous, pine and grapefruit hoppy flavor. [Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Rygge, Norway]

Bottle @ home. Almost clear golden body under a dense white head. Aroma of malt, mild toffee, ripe citric fruit and hint of alcohol. Taste is sweet malt, hint of toffee, biscuit, fruity hops, resin, nice bitterness and some alcohol. Fine body with a nice, bitter aftertaste. A very fine classic IPA with a solid malt base.

355ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Close-to-clear golden- brown body, fair lacing from a pearl white head. Appealing aromas mid-dry malts and fruity hops, bread and citrus. Delicious taste with a skillful blend of orange, pine needles, and mild cereal malts followed by a prominent twist of resinous bitterness to the finish. Long-lived and full bodied. Top notch, enjoyed for an hour on a Sunday afternoon. (Tromsø, 28.01.2024).

Bottle at the flat in Sofia - picked up from Da Hapna. Pours crystal clear rich gold with a foamy, mostly white head. Medium sweet flavour with decadent, layered piney hop character, some jammy orange, oily resin, booze, sun-kissed bread. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warm, pretty much hot finish, more resinous pine, some floral notes, more booze, a lick of caramel, bready malts. Such a great beer. Takes me back about a decade. Damn near impossible to find beers like this nowadays.

Bottle. Just slightly cloudy dark gold/orange with an ok white head. Aroma of alcoho, resin, pine, stone fruits and grapefruit. Taste follows aroma plus malts, caramel, jogurt, tangerines and oranges. Strong and long lasting bitterness. Medium carbonation. Boozy for sure but lord this is way too drinkable for its abv! While I generally question the very existence of Triple IPAs I have to admit that this is quite balanced and enjoyable. And as usual I find it very remarkable how well Sierra Nevada’s IPAs hold up.

Draught @ Climbing Wolf, Dobbs Ferry (Nov 2023). Clear dark amber-orange with a large creamy off-white head, faint orange peel aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish piney taste with orange peel flavor that turns bitter towards the end, thin body, long bitter finish. As hoppy as advertised!
