Orange-colored Trappist beer from Italy, with a pleasant balance in malty, spicy and fruity flavors. The orange peel gives an extra fruity and bitter character. Slightly sweet in taste with a fairly dry, fairly bitter aftertaste.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 03/2022, lot# L1833.

Many Thanks from this Authentic Trappist Product to Holyart in Italy. Poured into Westvleteren Authentic Trappist Glass:). piana spora i bardzo, bardzo trwala, zapachnialo dobrym belgijskim witbirem przyjemnie estrowo ziolowo, barwa poczatkowo pomaranczowa mglista z drobnymi fusami, potem robi sie bardzo brudno i metnie w kieliszku. smak slodowo chmielny, ale malo slodowo, bardziej ziolowo-chmielnie, przyjemnie i ta skoreczka, super dodala blasku i orzywila piwo, doskonale. Big thanks to all team from Holyart.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a lively, white head - quite a fizzy pour. Od spicy, tart nose. Medium body, greasy hops, some yeastiness, fizzy mouthfeel and a rough and almost astringent bitterness - possibly from the orange peel? Very Italian somehow - I'd rather have a good Pils than this.... 120121

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours fairly hazy, light amber, with fine white foam, very stable. Aroma is a nice mixture of citrus, like orange peel, yeast, hop resin. Body is average, with good carbonation. Taste is quite bitter for a Belgian ale, of course with a good base of sweetness. Final is average.

Bottle. Color: Slightly hazy orange amber, dense lasting white head. Aroma: Malty, yeasty and orange hints. Taste: Over moderate sweetish, malty, yeasty, subtle notes of sugar / honey and over moderate bittery, fruity orange peel. Bitter palate at finish. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Quite nice.

Bottle from Geers, Oostakker. Pours hazy orange with a big, slowly, diminishing, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of apricot, mandarin, cheese, yeast, orange peel, vague triple sec, herbs. Taste has sweetish apricot, mandarin, yeasty profile linked with doughy & honeyish malt, sourish accent, bitter herbs, spices & orange peel. Peppery hoppy finish, a tad grassy, yeasty, orange peel accents lingering. It took a while to actually get the aroma because it's rather subdued; the end result is a nice, refreshing drink, but there's nothing remarkable about it. An Italian Trappist is still a curiosity, but Scala Coeli inevitably falls in the mediocre segment.
