It’s been a while since we banged out a lager and we’ve made no secret that we’re fans of hop forward crispy boiis so we present Blue Ghosts: a German Style Pils turned up to 11. We’ve taken the traditional approach to this one by opting out of the new world hop additions and tried to make something that’s fully representative of all that is beautiful about noble hops. For this run we made out way out to the goddam Swiss Alps to Whitefrontier where we made this Pils a very continental affair.

440ml can from London: BB 9th June 2023. Drank at home on 26th May 2023, just in date then! Clean and clear golden body, white crown on top. Malty front with a hop bitterness towards the finish, decent Pilsner in my eyes.

On tap at Dispensary, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out clean, spicy, grassy hops with a crisp crackery malt base. Flavour is crisp and clean, with spicy grassy hops and crisp biscuity malt. Spicy, grassy and clean. Vibrantly hoped and very clean finish. Very good.

On tap in ☘️🇮🇪. Floral grainy beginning. Hints of bitterness, floral parts, nice crisp pils with sweetish grainy parts. Round and refreshing.

Can 440ml (K-Citymarket Rovaniemi)
Golden colour, small white head and some lace. Grassy and grainy nose. Light-bodied. Noble hops, grass and grains, sweetish maltyness. Ok pils.

Keg at Hydrant by the Monument, 11/11/22. Clear golden with a good sized lasting white cap, carbonation evident. Nose is pale malts, breads, herb, toasted grains, hedgerow, light citric dash. Taste comprises lemon rind, dusty hops, hedgerow, grass, pale and bready malts. Medium bodied, fine massaging carbonation, semi drying close. Decent flavoursome pils.

Quite floral, touch of sweetness. Feels like they tried to give a pils a modern twist but maybe needn’t have done.

(Can, 0.44 l - BB 17.06.2022, from Pien Shop, 20220107) The beer poured golden and rather clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, fruitiness grass. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, grass, mildly herbalness, clear malty notes and bit too soft bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. A nice malty brew but not really a pils.

Slightly cloudy pale yellow, unstable white head. Smells a bit fruity, some noble hoppy bitterness. Light body, with a tad too much carbonation for me. Taste is light, crisp and grainy. Some bitterness, but subdued. Fairly decent, but far from great.
