Draught @ Cafe Albert. Pours pitch black small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, sweet chocolate, vanilla, bourbon. Flavor is sweet, rich roasted malt, caramel, dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, alcohol. Full body, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation, sweet finish with warming alcohol. 111123

Draft at Frontaal Little Bar in Utrecht. Never thought I would have to chance to taste this brewery draft over here in The Netherlands and now I do twice. 2023 edition, 12.7% according to the bar. Color: Pitch black, small brown head. Aroma: Marshmellow, roasted malt, vanilla. Taste: Dark dried fruit, roasted malt, vanilla, dark chocolate / cocoa, charred oak wood, some marshmellow, coffee, fudge. More Stout than Barley Wine but it surely has a (fruity) Barley Wine touch. Medium to over medium sweet, moderate bitterness. Sticky but not too sticky. Full body, low carbonation. So very well balanced... I think this one is even slightly better than the Fundamental Observation that already got 5 out of 5.. . Leaving me no other choice than to give the same 100% rating.

Draft at Cerebral Brewing taproom in Aurora, CO - the barleywine comes through more than the stout here - light tartness, moderate oxidation, fig, treacle, plum - a little thin-bodied but flavorful and balanced for the strength - somewhat sugary, as well - and papery in the finish - perhaps I don't actually enjoy it as much as I think.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is vanilla, cocoa, roast, bourbon, wood. Slick body, milk chocolate, vanilla, toffee, roast, boozy, enjoyed this.
