We chose to celebrate enhanced economic trading with the esteemed Brouwerij Kees by investing in very special yeast - an isolated strain from Brasserie d'Achouffe. Expect spice, clove and orange notes from the yeast working in harmony with an expressive European hop profile that includes enriched Mandarina Bavaria.

[33cl bottle from Beer52.] A cloudy pale amber pour with a thick white head; lemony aroma with some yeast; milkshake-style body with some lemon sherbert to start then a sharp grapefruit bitterness; finishing with yeast and a surprising amount of warmth in the stomach, given the ABV.

Keg at Six Degrees North Aberdeen. It pours hazy golden with a medium white head. The aroma is soft, bready, spicy, ripe fruits, orangey citrus, papaya, melon, tangy, orange creamsicle and a bit of spice. The taste is dry, bitter, tart citrus action, pithy, zesty, orange, orange chewits, pink grapefruit, kumquat, peppery spice, grass, straw, slightly herbal. lemongrass, waxy peel and a touch of alcohol perhaps with a drying, spicy finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Plenty to it. Moreish and quaffable. Decent gear.

Beer number seven in a random tasting session with myself on 10th May 2019. 330ml bottle BB: 3rd Jun 2020. Poured into an old 'Yuengling ' stemmed glass at home. Cloudy pale yellow body, white head. Lemon front to the citrusy aroma and taste. Not too sure why people rave about Siren and Kees; maybe I am just a traditionalist at heart and prefer 'Real Ale'.
