Golden sour beer fermented using three different yeast strains and lightly soured using Lactobacillus buchneri. A blend of spices, including cardamom, cumin, cloves and star anise were added to the boil, along with Savinjski Goldings hops to add a touch of bitterness. Following fermentation, this beer was aged for 12 weeksin gin barrels, sourced from the Aquitaine region of France. Bittled with champagne yeast, Mother's Ruin has evolved into something very special, with gentle acidity, notes of elderflower and orange blossom and just a hint of sharp juniper.

Bottle, small to medium bubbly fizzy head, cloudy polish orange colour, citrus, juniper, flowers, some tonic, a touch of glue and a bit of spiciness and wood, empathic light grapefruit bitterness and a mellow light white wine sourness. Original and highly enjoyable, the gin character is quite evident.

Bottle (2020 vintage, BBE 01/23, enjoyed 05/23, bought from Alko web). Hazy orangeish golden colour, floral, some toffee and mild wooden tones. Flavour is floral, wooden, toffeeish, mild tartish tones with some citrus and mild earthy tones. Smooth, and has aged nicely. Gin gives it a nice kick.

750ml bottle from Thornbridge Beer Club - Been sitting in the cellar too long this one, pale yellow body, sparkly champagne head that goes in seconds. Nose is dry juniper, lots of botanicals that I can't put my finger on. Taste is very dry, lip-smacking sharp, fruity and floral at the same time. Bit of a puzzle, but I think I like it.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks Stas. Cloudy pale yellow, white head. Bretty funk, lots of gin, flowers, earth, wood, botanicals, dry, sourish. Too much gin for my liking.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. It’s missing an apostrophe. Soft haze on a pale gold. Decent white head is fairly dense and lasting. Nose has greasy gin. Botanicals. Super sweet grain. Taste is pretty sweet, with more oily botanicals. Slick on the palate. Foamy carbonation. Sweet finish. Didn’t get on with this at all.
