Sampled from the tap at Red Cow North Loop. Pours a clear deep gold with a copper hue and an off white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma pine and some earthy resin with a bit of grain and bread backing. Flavor has dank pine and resin with some earthy grass and grains coming through.

Clown Shoes used to release a steady stream of good-to-very good imperial stouts, no longer it appears. Now they mostly put out a limited number of new IPAs. A 16 oz can located at my only local craft beer store. I open and pour into a globe glass. It shows orange-amber in color with a modest top of parchment foam. The scent is a curious mix of cane syrup and grain. The drink is a straightforward old school IPA with considerable hoppiness, lemon, plenty of malt, grapefruit and some caramel sweetness. All not bad. Decently bitter. It seems bigger than a 7.2% abv. A good IPA.

Lacks the bitter piney punch of a good West Coast IPA. Instead, the resin is kept to the periphery, with citrus and berry notes overshadowing the caramel on the front end. Not bad, just not what I look for in the style.
