0,05l from tap at the brewpub. black color, small tan head. smells a bit weird, some veggies, earthy, licorice, ok smell overall. Medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of ash, earthy, licorice, bitter herbal, light coffee, bit leathery. finishes rather roasty with notes of earth, licorice and ash. quite nice bitter taste, smell was a bit weird, balance could also be better.

Draught @ The Highlander, Vienna, Austria. Pours very dark brown with an creamy offwhite head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, light yeast, toasted bread, little sweet. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, malt, toast, bread, light licorice. Thin body, soft to average carbonation. 120816

Jan. ’16. On tap at the brewpub.It poured almost clear dark red-brown body with medium sized creamy nitro head. Pleasant, roasted malt aroma. Flavor was lightly bitter, both from roasted malt and decent herbal hops. Coffee, roasted sugar, dark bread, yeast. Medium body with short to medium yeasty and a bit dry finish. A dry stout, not a regular. Okay, empty as these get, a bit more yeasty which is just weird, but nice to see this style in a traditional brewpub in Vienna that has some links to the Isles.

From tap. Pours hazy brown to black with a creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted and breadish. Toasted and breadish. Bitter and dry malty.

On Tap at the brewbub. Das bier ist schwarz und hat eine schöne beige Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig bitter, trocken, erdig. Geschmack trocken röstmalzig, Karamell, Schokolade, nett.

Dieses Bier konnte ich bei einem erneuten Besuch nach einigen Jahren leider nicht neu trinken.Es wurde mir anno dazumals als Guinness-ähnlich angepriesen. Und wirklich kommt man nahe an das mild-samtige Irische heran. Aber es behält neben schokoladig-kakao-artigen Aromen auch einen herben Unterton. Nicht perfekt, aber eine tolle Alternaive ohne Großkonzern.

Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a creamy off-white head. Has a roasted malty toffee aroma. Roasted malty caramel flavor with hints of chocolate. Has a roasted malty smooth caramel and chocoalte finish with some bitterness.

Almost black coloured, creamy cappuccino head, milk chocolate nose. Light roasted malt, milk chocolate and dark fruits taste with pleasant bitterish roasty aftertaste. Smooth but unfortunately too watery stout.

Entäuschend malziger Antrunk. Sehr sehr wässrig, die Malzigkeit ist in keinem Fall angemessen. Im Abgang röstig, stärker als der malzige Antrunk aber unverkennbar wässrig. Absolut kein Stout-Feeling. Test vom 13.8.2008, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 14,6,7,5,-,5 - 6,42
