Black with tan head. Malty aroma. Flavour has malt, chocolate, some light hop, dried fruit. Decent body, mellow and far too drinkable for 6%.

On tap (as Farewell Porter) at Suds & Soda stand, Great Derbyshire Beer Festival - an event I certainly wasn’t expecting to get a country tick at ! And a beer that neither Fat Phil nor Marduk has rated. Anyway, Pours almost black with minimal beige head and low carbonation. Some vague nuttiness in the aroma. Roast malts prominent in the mouth, together with biscuits, milk chocolate and hints of vanilla. Finish has a little bitterness. This is very good indeed.

(Keg at CoolHead Taproom, 20211104) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, dark chocolate and lightly metal. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, dark chocolate, sweetness, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, burnt and bitter. A decent burnt brew with bit too much sweetness.
