Brewed in celebration of Lent and Easter season, Carnevale is a light-bodied Saison, using Brettanomyces along with Amarillo and Simcoe hops to generate flavor and depth. Carnevale’s complexity grows with time. The citrus notes tend to wane and the wild yeast rears its wonderfully tasting head.

Cork and caged bottle (8% ABV) brought back from California by me to share with friends. 24th July 2017, five of us tucked into the beer during our monthly exchange evening in Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Slight haze to the golden amber body, big white topping that gave off some decent lacing. Spiced aroma with some sour fruit esters. The taste is also spicy with some sour fruits, it’s peppery and fairly bitter flavour wise. A very pleasant Saison all round.

75cl bottle 8% version @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie July 17. Pours hazy gold, small foamy white head. Aroma is soft bretty fruity floral. Taste presents a crisp, balanced bretty saison character with some light spice. Very good US saison this.

Vom Fass im Stone Brewing Berlin 2016-11 getrunken. Süffiges und etwas langweiliges Saison, aber gut gemacht wie alle Lost Abbey Biere die ich im Glas hatte.

Pours a hazy amber from a bottle, thick white head with some lacing. Fruity aroma, like baked apples or some roasted pears or something. Slightly spicy flavor with a bit of funk. Nicely balanced. Pretty good beer.
