Death by Chocolate Cake. What would happen if we took one of the nation’s best loved, super-indulgent desserts for inspiration, and applied it to our most indulgent beer? Even more cacao nibs, even more Cypress wood, even more depth. It’s doubled down and ramped up to imperial strength. The Amburana is still critical. Its spicy, fragrant spirals impart all kinds of different flavours, not dissimilar to the complexity of tonka beans. It's remarkable how we all seem to pick up something different from them.

Black beer with a thick, bubbly brown head that dusippates quickly. Aroma is malty and piney. Tastes of malt, dark chocolate, coffee, a touch of caramel, dried fruit, spices, a little.... mint, maybe? Something light and cool. I don't know that inorefer this to the big rich cake-y original but this is still very nice and quite interesting.

Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Like a crema coffee. Nose - dark chocolate. This imperial version gets into molasses. Light smoke even. Taste - smoke, dark chocolate and raisins. Palate - creamy and full bodied. Crunchy dry finish. Long linger. Overall - lovely stuff.
