Death by Chocolate Cake. What would happen if we took one of the nation’s best loved, super-indulgent desserts for inspiration, and applied it to our most indulgent beer? Even more cacao nibs, even more Cypress wood, even more depth. It’s doubled down and ramped up to imperial strength. The Amburana is still critical. Its spicy, fragrant spirals impart all kinds of different flavours, not dissimilar to the complexity of tonka beans. It's remarkable how we all seem to pick up something different from them.

330 oz can T Mother Kelly’s Vauxhall. Pours a reddish black with moderate tan head. Aromas of creamy chocolate, sweet vanilla and soft roasted malts. Flavors of rich chocolate cake including the icing. Oily roasted malts as a nod to beer. A great sweet desert beer.

Keg @ Beer Heroes, Chester. Pours dark, pretty much black, small tan head. Aroma has good cakey chocolate, hefty dark malt. Taste continues with sumptuously rich chocolate character, soft roast, light coffee hints, but really this is all about the chocolate. Excellent winters day sipper.

Bottle. A- Oak, cocoa. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Medium sweetness, chocolate, woodsy. P- Full body, slightly thin texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- A tad underwhelming. Lots of oak. The cypress wood adds a unique touch but it's too strong. Sweet chocolate and woodsy covers it all. I think the BA version would be better. Good beer but not as refined as I wanted it to be.
