KBS Spicy Chocolate is a blend of sweet and spicy that come together like a sensory symphony. This batch of KBS is made with dried chilies and chocolate for a rich, mole-inspired punch of flavors. Expect dark chocolate and dried peppers with hints of smoke and a spicy finish that lingers just long enough to be colled by your next sip. A unique and unexpected twist to our KBS.

Black with a large foamy brown head that left great lacing. Toasty with coffee, cocoa and hot pepper. Medium finish. Moderately full bodied.

Bottle (12/23/23) from Andover Classic Wines. Black, tons of sparkle, small head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma is strong chocolate, chili spice over bourbon (mild alcohol). Taste is strong chili over bourbon and hint of chocolate. Creamy, lightly frothy texture, avg. carbonation and finish as taste. Bourbon is a little bit of an afterthought. Alcohol mostly hidden. Decent enough but neither a KBS classic nor a "must have."

Aromas are dark malt, fudge and a bit of funk plus hints of spice. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, add in a little coffee with medium body and a sweet coffee finish. Okay carbonation. Don't really pick up too much spice.

Pours mahogany-tinged black into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention soaps and bubbles on surface. Dark chocolate, espresso and mild spice aromas. Thick with sweet espresso, dark chocolate, mild spice and brown bread upfront turning to earthy tiramisu and spice in the slick lasting espresso finish.

Bottle. A- Cocoa, mild spice. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Chocolate, faint spice. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- I really expected a lot more for a KBS. The flavor is there but with so many Mexican Hot Cocoa beers out there killing it, this really didn't have legs to stand on. Okay but far from the best KBS variants.

Bottle from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours dark brn/blk with a moderate creamy tan head. Aroma is spice, nuts, chili, chocolate and dark malt. Med body or better. Flavor starts with chili and smoke, develops chocolate, dark malt and something else. Not dry, but not exactly sweet. Spice stands in for bitter. Moderate chili burn persists. Good ale.
