Is this really a mead? Tastes more lambic. Blackberry and decent honey. Lots of grapefruit lambic bretta. Tart finish. Bottle.

Haat liefde relatie met zwarte bes, dat doet het uitstekend in jam, toetjes, desserts…of als cassis… maar in bier… nah… zelfs de honingwijn kan het niet redden, verder wel ok en te doen, alleen zure cassis

CBHWS2025. Slightly hazy red colour with a minor pink head. Aroma is tart wood, some mild honey as well as a bit tart berries. Flavour is honey, some funk, mild alcohol sweetness with some wooden and mild berries to it. Sweetish dry with some nice tartness too.

Draught (2023) @ Capsule, Lille. Pours a deep red, with a lasting foamy ring atop. Lovely balanced blackcurrant with an underlying pillow of honey. Excellent.

750mL bottle. Pours cloudy dark red with white head. Aroma has tons of barnyard funk, currants, manure. Flavour has lots of currants balanced out by sweetness from the honey. Definitely some funk in the flavour, but much more subdued than the nose. Nice touch of astringency on the finish. Very nice.

750mL bottle, pour s a clear dark red with a medium pink head. Aroma has plenty of partially fermented out honey, pithy currant, and gentle barnyard funk. Flavour has plenty of pithy currants, moderately fermented out honey, moderate funk, and moderate acidity. The honey pairs really well with the currant, but the funk is left behind. Very funky upfront, but more honey and pithy berry on the finish. Unusual, but I'm ultimately a fan.

Dark red colour with lasting thin head. Notes of cherry and other red fruit. Quite floral too. Touch of rose.

Good, bit fluffy pink head over fully veiled, deep red beer. Honey, old cards, honeywaffles, faintly fruity, Asian herbs. Again the Asian herbs/curryleaf, honey. There is red fruit, yes, but I'm missing the typical valerian/cassis stamp. Fruitjam - with honey and a whiff of curry, sparadrap. Feels rather well carbonated, fruitslick. I'm a bit left on my hunger. What is this blend? It's good, but not 100% convincing compared to the blurb.
