The wicked witch who arrived with the bone-chilling winds from Eastern Europe: BABA YAGA! Her hobbies include: gathering mushrooms in the woods, cosy evenings by the fireplace with her cat and dining on the warm corpses of naughty children. She adorns the label of our Russian Imperial Stout, which pours a thick black as dark as her heart. Brewed with 6 types of malt, expect big roasted aromas like coffee and pure chocolate, some liquorice in the background and a solid bitterness from American hops. Limited to 2.000 bottles // Released: November 2017

0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', bottled in October 2017, cellared for about a year. Pitch black with a thin, foamy, almost stable, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty, rather fruity-resiny aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, tropical fruits, blueberry and some pine. Gently sweet, malty, quite roasty, moderately fruity-resiny taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, ash, blueberry, some tropical fruits and a touch of pine, followed by a medium long, rather roasty-bitter, earthy-dry, ashy and slightly resiny finish. Medium to full body, very smooth, almost creamy and quite effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very bold stuff with high intensity, rather hoppy for an Imperial Stout, very saturating. Nice!

Bottle @ home. Opaque black color, huge sized light brown colored head. Aroma is malts, roasted malts, a hint of liquorice. Taste malts, dark malts, roasted malts, malt bitterness, bitter. Hmm well the flavor isn't very deep but it's a very nice roasty stout. Maybe even one of the best non-BA and non-adjuncts stouts I've had for a long time. Well done I'd say.

Bottle from Drinks & Gifts, BB 10 2019. Dark color, medium frothy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, piney hop, bit blackcurrant, bit cookie. Almost like a black IPA. Quite bitter in taste, earthy and piney, some roasty bitterness. Very easy drinker and feels more like an imperial black IPA, so a bit thin in body for a RIS. Lovely beer, but totally unexpected.
