Smoked Old Ale
Berserk is an English style ale that is dark brown and smokey with a very strong malt character. Brewed with beech smoked and peated malts, the beer is smokey with hazelnut, molasses, dark bread, and dried stone fruit flavors reminiscent of plums or dates.

Smoked ale (i.e. actually brewed with Rauchmalz in this case) by this Estonian craft brewery, tasted from tap at Dok Brewing Company in Hal 16. Thinnish and quickly opening, eggshell-white ‘ring’ for a head on a misty dark coppery-hued mahogany brown beer. Aroma of indeed smoked meat but not completely overpowering, hard caramel, some wet dog, bread crust, dry tea bags, chestnuts, cured sausages, horse steak-like proteins aspect, rainwater. Restrainedly sweetish onset, some fig, dried banana and dried blackberry with a very light sourish accent, medium carb, hard-caramelly and toasty malt body, bittersweetish but still more sweet than bitter with the smoky touch coming up retronasally – again without overpowering anything else; herbal hops and rum-like warming alcohol round things off. An unusually strong Bamberg style Rauchbier in a certain way, more so than old-fashionedly English ‘old ale’ as it was announced, enjoyable and well made.

Draught Small rim over near-black beer. Vinous, liqueurish, red fruit; alcoholic & fusels, X-mas cake. Dry, despite a lot of restsugars, even syrup. Malty, raisins, dried prunes. Just a tad peppery. Finish has a lot of fusels & higher alcohols. Red berries return, and finally, smoke and fire woodlogs. Viscous, rich, alcoholheat. True to "style". Good, rewarding beer, no fireworks.

Draft. A dark brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of smoke, caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of smoke, caramel, and malt, leading to a bitter finish. The alcohol tingles the tongue.

On tap at Fakin Zagreb. Nearly black coloured, small brownish head, distinct smoke and light caramel in the nose. Light roasted malt, caramel, toffee, light smoke and weak dried fruits with rather sweet finish. Decent smoke profile but rather on the alco side.
