440ml can from Alko. Poured black in color, off white head. Heavy coffee aroma and flavor, delicious if you like coffee. Roasty, fairly dry, but turns quite sweet at the end though.

A black beer, a head is medium and light brown. Aroma has aromatic black coffee, roastiness, hint of caramel. Taste has coffee, roastiness, balanced caramel. Strong coffee, but it's nicely balanced. I really like this.

440ml can from Jumbo, Grote Marktstraat, Den Haag. Poured a clear, almost black colour with a short-lived, frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, chocolate, coffee. The flavour is moderate sweet and liquorice bitter, with a smooth, rich, roasty, chocolate, herbal, light tonka, spicy coffee, liquorice bitter palate and an oily mouthfeel. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation.

47,3 cl can @ home. Batch #749: canned 11.04.2024, BBE 11.04.2026 Lots of foam when pouring. Aroma has licorice and coffee. Flavour has licorice, coffee, some alcohol and salty licorice. Surprisingly strong alcohol notes for this ABV. A nice slow sipper.

Coffee stout by this popular stout specialist in northern Holland, can from the new Jumbo supermarket in Ghent. Thick and dense to creamy, mocha-beige, stable head on a jet black robe. Aroma of indeed strong (cold) black coffee, espresso, even green coffee beans, cigar ashes, bitter black chocolate, charred toast, bayleaf, burnt wood, dry caramel, hints of black tea, old rubber, salmiak, dried fig, black olives and gravel. Cleanly sweet, rounded onset, hints of fig and blackberry syrup but nothing too sugary, some baked banana, very light ‘drop’-like umami accent but so subtle that it does not even play along with the mean flavours; full, oily body, roasted-hazelnutty, black-chocolatey and toasty core under peppery hops and of course the expected coffee, adding lovely roasted bitterness but also spicy retronasal aromas. The chocolate malt keeps everything together, while a dark-sugary sweet element trickles down the throat – but somehow avoids annoying stickiness. Not as cloyingly desserty as many contemporary flavoured stouts, thank God – this one does exactly what it promises in a sufficiently ‘modern’ way, but without unnecessary frills. More than solid, but given the average quality this brewery delivers, not more so than I was expecting.
